World Book Day

We’re so excited for World Book Day, taking place this year on Thursday 7 March. The annual celebration of authors, illustrators, books and reading promises to be the biggest and best yet!

Children across the UK will receive a £1 book token, which can be exchanged for a World Book Day book or used to get £1 off a full price book.
The £1 book list this year features lots of brilliant authors, and spans genres including young adult fiction, picture books for young children, non-fiction and more. This year’s £1 books are:

Biggest Book Show on Earth
This year, World Book Day’s Biggest Book Show on Earth live events will be taking place in four local areas where we work – Swindon, Bradford, Manchester and Dundee. There are also two brilliant videos for parents to watch with their children as part of the celebration – one for older children featuring Cressida Cowell, Andy Stanton and more, and one for younger children with illustrators like Alex T. Smith, Sophy Henn and lots more.

Parents’ Bookfinder
The Parents’ Bookfinder tool on the World Book Day website is designed to help parents find what books their child could read next, organised by age category and lots of different themes.

Storycraft is World Book Day’s web-based storytelling tool, which takes children on a unique step-by-step journey to writing and sharing stories in different genres. All with the help of more than 50 top author Storyguides, who share their top tips and inspiration with budding young writers at every stage.
